GL18 White Tamper-Evident Closure with Integrated Syringe Plug

GL18 white tamper-evident PP closure with integrated syringe plug, PP/PELD. Fits all GL18 bottles 5ml–100ml. Enables accurate syringe-withdrawal dosing. Ideal for paediatric and oral liquid use.
MOQ and lead time applies – Please contact us for further details

The GL18 White Tamper-Evident Closure with Integrated Syringe Plug (GL18TEWPP-ISP) is a clinical-grade dispensing closure manufactured in PP/PELD, combining tamper-evident security with a syringe-compatible insert in a single GL18 assembly. Rather than dispensing liquid via drops, the integrated syringe plug enables the user to withdraw a precise volume of liquid using an oral dosing syringe inserted directly through the plug — a dispensing method that offers a higher degree of volumetric accuracy than drop counting and is specifically suited to paediatric oral liquid medicines, oral tinctures, vitamin formulations, and other applications where an exact measured dose must be drawn and administered. The tamper-evident closure provides visible first-open evidence, confirming the product has not been accessed prior to first use — a regulatory and consumer safety requirement for most pharmaceutical and healthcare oral liquid packaging.

Manufactured in PP with a PELD syringe plug insert, this closure fits the GL18 neck standard (also known as NW18 or DIN168) with a consistent inner bore diameter of 10.65mm ± 0.15mm — making it interchangeable across all GL18 glass dropper bottles in the BlueSky range from 5ml to 100ml in both amber and clear glass. The combination of tamper evidence, syringe-compatibility, and the GL18 universal neck standard makes this closure a practical and specification-efficient choice for brands supplying oral liquid healthcare products, licensed medicines, vitamin preparations, and paediatric dosing solutions. Contact BlueSky to confirm stock availability, MOQ, and syringe compatibility with your specific oral dosing device.

Integrated Syringe Plug — Accurate Volume Withdrawal

The syringe plug insert allows an oral dosing syringe to be inserted directly through the closure and into the bottle, enabling the user to withdraw a precise measured volume of liquid rather than counting drops. This method of dose extraction is significantly more accurate for volume-sensitive formulations than drop-based dispensing, and is the standard dosing mechanism for paediatric oral liquid medicines, oral tinctures, and vitamin preparations where dose accuracy directly impacts safety and therapeutic outcome.

Tamper-Evident Closure — First-Open Evidence

The GL18TEWPP-ISP features a tamper-evident ring that provides clear, visible evidence of first opening — confirming the product has not been accessed prior to consumer use. For oral pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and healthcare liquid products, tamper evidence is a standard commercial and regulatory expectation, providing both consumer confidence and protection against tampering or adulteration in the supply chain.

PP/PELD Construction — Pharmaceutical-Grade Materials

The closure body is manufactured in PP (polypropylene) with a PELD (low-density polyethylene) syringe plug insert. Both materials offer broad chemical compatibility with aqueous oral liquid formulations, vitamin preparations, alcohol-based tinctures, and herbal extracts. PP is widely specified for pharmaceutical closures due to its chemical resistance, rigidity, and compatibility with a wide range of liquid medicinal products. Formulation compatibility testing is recommended prior to production.

Universal GL18 Compatibility — 5ml to 100ml

As part of the GL18 system, this closure is compatible with all GL18 glass dropper bottles in the BlueSky range — 5ml, 10ml, 15ml, 20ml, 30ml, 50ml, and 100ml — in both amber and clear glass. The GL18 neck standard maintains a consistent inner bore diameter of 10.65mm ± 0.15mm across all bottle volumes, meaning this closure specification does not change when bottle size changes within the GL18 range.

Amber Glass Compatible — UV Protection for Sensitive Formulations

The GL18TEWPP-ISP is compatible with amber GL18 glass dropper bottles, which provide UV protection for light-sensitive oral liquid formulations including vitamin preparations, herbal tinctures, and homeopathic preparations. For products where light exposure would degrade active ingredients over the product’s shelf life, specifying amber glass alongside this closure provides a complete, protection-optimised packaging system.

Syringe-Based Dosing — Appropriate for Paediatric Applications

Syringe-withdrawal dosing is the clinically preferred method for administering oral liquid medicines to infants and young children, where drop counting introduces unacceptable variability and direct bottle pouring risks overdose. The integrated syringe plug facilitates this dosing method at point of use, supporting safe and accurate administration for paediatric oral drops, vitamin formulations, and liquid healthcare products intended for use with an oral dosing syringe. Syringe compatibility should be confirmed with BlueSky’s team prior to production.

Frequently Asked
Questions

How does the syringe plug work and what syringe is needed?

The integrated syringe plug is a self-sealing insert that sits within the closure. An oral dosing syringe is pushed through the plug seal, which flexes to admit the syringe tip and reseals when the syringe is withdrawn — preventing leakage and maintaining closure integrity between doses. The syringe is not supplied with the closure. Please contact BlueSky’s team with details of your preferred oral dosing syringe to confirm tip compatibility with the GL18W plug geometry before committing to production.

Why is syringe-based dosing preferred over drop counting for some applications?

Drop counting introduces variability due to differences in bottle angle, liquid viscosity, surface tension, and drop speed — meaning the actual volume delivered per drop can fluctuate meaningfully between doses. Syringe withdrawal allows the user to draw an exact volume directly into the barrel of a calibrated oral syringe, providing significantly higher volumetric accuracy. For paediatric medicines and other dose-sensitive applications where the therapeutic window is narrow, syringe-based dosing is the clinically safer and more reliable method.

What GL18 bottle sizes is this closure compatible with?

The GL18TEWPP-ISP is compatible with all GL18 glass dropper bottles in the BlueSky range — 5ml, 10ml, 15ml, 20ml, 30ml, 50ml, and 100ml — in both amber and clear glass. The GL18 neck standard is consistent across all bottle volumes, so this closure fits the full range without modification. For oral liquid healthcare products, amber glass is typically recommended to protect light-sensitive formulations.

Does this closure provide child resistance as well as tamper evidence?

This closure provides tamper evidence — visible first-open evidence confirming the product has not been accessed prior to use — but is not a child-resistant closure (CRC). For products requiring child resistance under ISO 8317, such as household medicines or products subject to child-safety packaging regulations, BlueSky’s GL18 CRC closure is the appropriate specification. Please contact BlueSky’s team to discuss the correct closure specification for your product’s regulatory requirements.
